I'm really waiting until the last minute here to post some ideas, but here it goes. Most of the ideas I have had for animes have been far too long and complicated to attempt, outside of any plot concerns.
(Mainly massive war epics set in the near or later future featuring the dintegration of the US in civil war or the world plunging into the abyss as modern civilization comes crashing down in the midst of a cataclysmic worldwide conventional war. Also, another idea would be following a group of protagonists in a war and it slowly is revealed to the viewer that they are actually a bunch of evil SOBs whose attrocities make those of the "enemy" appear tame in comparison; the goal being that the viewer would be cheering when the "heroes and heroines" finally met their violent and horrific deaths. The other main idea would be about a she-demon rebelling against the forces of hell and only knowing about the human world through manga and anime (revealed to be a demonic plot to corrupt the youth of Japan (this would not
be a serious drama)). She would decide to fight against the forces of (greater) Evil by conscripting a bunch of young women and forcibly turning them into magical "girls", with their reactions being played completely straight. Also, there would be no "anime physics;" they would be getting involved in knock-down, drag out fight with demons using guns, knives, swords, brass nuckles, or whatever iron bars or wooden planks they find laying around.
Anyway, I will have to create another thread in order to expand on those ideas and let others post their ideas for all the animes they wish could be made if they had unlimited budget and influence.)
Now for my ideas for shorts which we might be able to actually create ourselves:
Idea # 1
This is along somewhat similar lines to Broadway's idea, I had been thinking up a satirical and comedic sketch poking fun at all of the common character archetypes, and why if one thinks about it, they would most likely greatly prefer to live in the real world over any of the ones portrayed in manga or anime.
My idea is that two college students, a guy and a girl, are looking through some manga in the CAINE room and one of them comments on how they wish they could live in the type of world portrayed in whatever manga they are reading at the time or whatever anime they are watching. As soon as he or she utters these words, a voice saying " Well then it's your lucky day" or something along those lines and a stereotypical looking, although also vaguely demonic looking (maybe slightly pointed ears and a cute fang or two) frilly magical girl climbs out of a portal in a manga laying on the ground and tells them that she can grant their wish and send them to any type of anime world they want as any type of character. The guy and girl seem pretty freaked out and the "magical girl" tries to reassure them by saying that "Its not like I'm an evil demon whose going steal your souls and trap you in an ironic hell of your own creation!
" She would then turn towards the viewer, breaking the fourth wall, and smile showing a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and buring red eyes, and then wink.
She would then say she can turn them into the full range of "deres", poofing herself into a classic example of each one, ending as a yandere with pink hair and mimicking the Yuno the Yandere Queen pose Meme.
She could then turn to the guy and girl and start poofing them into a series of character tropes, such as lone medieval hero, super powered muscleman (similar to Dragon Ball Z), pretty boy member of a reverse-harem, or "edgy" chunibiyo for the guy, and then a magical girl, shy schoolgirl, genki girl, '80s style action girl, or a super hot, scantily clad "waifu", the last of which results in both the guy and magical girl staring at her exitedly with nosebleeds, at which the furious girl whacks them both on the head with a chair or something until she's poofed back to normal. The magical girl then tells them to make a decision, and the guy and girl talk about it, before the girl asks if they can ever change back, and the magical girl says something like "Of course not! If I let you do that, it wouldn't be much of a faustian bargain, now would it-oh shit! I mean, oh, nevermind, now I'm just going to rip out your souls!!!!" She unveils her full demonic form, and laughing maniacly, lunges at them. The girl holds up the open manga and the she-demon (formerly magical girl) flies into it, unable to stop and going back through the portal from whence she came. The girl slams the manga shut, and then she and the guy duck tape it up, and agree to never speak of it or ever wish to live in an anime world ever again.
Self-critique: It seems like this could be difficult to animate, with all of the different costume designs, and also because of the heavy usemof dialogue. Also, i don't know how comedic others would find it, and it may be aimed at too limited an audience, appealing mainly to those already big fans of maga and anime. The characters would stay in the same setting though.
This one would focus on a lone soldier of a defeated army walking along a deserted road amidst a ruined landscape, filled with brown fields, sharred towns and the carnage of war. This would include him walking past blown up tanks, scrashed jets, and in one seen, a seemingly endless plain of grave stones, displaying his country's complete and utter defeat. As he walks, dressed in a tattered uniform and holding an AK-47, he abandons various items, as he is using up the last of his strength on this journey. Various items, such as his helmet, utility belt, and even rucksack form a line behind him as he trudges on in the distance, a lone figure amidst the desolation. One shot could focus in on a small case he dropped containing several medals, including ones modeled on the Purple Heart and Medal of Honor, implying that this man had been decorated for extreme valor during the war. The camera focusses in on the man, showing that the only two things he carries are his Kalashnikov (AK-47) and a photo. The camera focusses in on the photo, showing a woman holding a baby, and there is a flashback as the man, in a previous time before the war reduced him to a hollow shell of himself, playing with his young daughter in the yard outside of a small house, as his smiling wife looked on. Immediately, there is a cut to a shot of the kalashnikoc clattering to the ground. The man sinks to the ground, sobbing on his hands and knees, as the camera pans up to show the burned out ruins of the house from the flashback, with two hastily dug graves with crosses made from wooden slats in the front yard, one grave adult sized, and the other the other child sized. The final shot is the man on his knees, using the Kalashnikov as a crutch to lean on as he sobs in anguish, siloletted by the twighlight against the ruins and graves, the last thing he had left to live for gone. Fade to black.
Self-critique: I don't know if we want to make something this sad and depressing.
This one would show several men and women in military uniforms, the location shots showing they are in Japan and the date given as some time in the future, such as 2120 or so. They are high ranking military leaders and are discussing how they will mee the seemingly inevitable Russian military onslaught, which had turned east after accomplishing its centuries old goal of conquering continental Europe. They discuss possibilities of allies, before one of them suggests they ask for help from the Americans, as in the inhabitants of the American Republic, the sucessor to the Unted States, now an isolated place inhabited by people who resmble central asians in appearence after the almost total triumph of the ethnic melting pot. After a century of warfare, they are looked as akin to the Huns of the 400s AD. The military leaders react to this suggestion and meet with some of the americans.
