So, maybe some of you have heard of this, but it's new to me and I feel like telling people.

There's a new program called PaintsChainer (link below). You give it a black and white drawing, sketch, manga page or whatever, and it colors it for you. You can even give it a few guiding lines as to what areas should be what color. Now it's nowhere near good enough to use as a professional tool, but man if it isn't impressive. I did a quick piece as a demonstration, and'll link it here if I can figure out how. Plus, I'm pretty sure someone with more time (and a larger sized file) could easily out-do me.

If there some interest, how about people post some of their own creations with the program down below? Let's have some fun with it.

Currently getting a server error, but I'll be checking this out at some point.

And, it's back up. Here some Oyasumi Punpun with no hints provided.

So I've been doing a few tests. The coloring algorithm seems to be optimized for drawings of people. Headshots work best, but it handles full-body decently as well. Of course, it does work with any black and white image, but the automatic system really shines with human faces. Another slight note: the output image always seems to have a rather smaller aspect ratio than the input. It also has a tendency to assume people are blonde.
